Central Venous Oxygen Saturation (ScvO2)
ScvO2 shows early whether there is an imbalance between oxygen consumption (VO2I) and oxygen delivery (DO2I). There is a good correlation between ScvO2 and SvO2 (mixed venous oxygenation measured via a PA-catheter). ScvO2 is less invasive than mixed venous SvO2 measurement via PA-catheter, there is a high impact on patient outcome (as shown with Early Goal Directed Therapy - EDGT - literature).
- Percentage amount of hemoglobin in the central venous blood saturated with oxygen
- Earliest and most sensitive indicator of oxygenation imbalance
- High impact on patient outcome
